You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. want to know the infinitive

When I find a word in an article and I search it, I'd like to know what is its infinitive. Right now this is possible by searching in the reverse direction, but this is very complicated.

  2. Add words by voice recognition

I'd like to use an app that recognises words by pronounciation, adds them to the dictionary or gives a translation, if it is already in the dictionary.

  3. Add a whole dictionary into the app (or to be able to find such already uploaded)

To be able to load a a whole dictionary for the selected languages, for instance, If I don't want to add manually all the words I encounter. I just want to have already inserted words for the selected language I want to learn

  4. Generative & scaffolded practice

I'd like the tests to require me to do something with the word/phrase - type it, say it, write a sentence with it, post something about it to twitter, etc. I'd like the tests to be progressively more difficult, e.g. from recognition to production and for the difficult to increase in relation to my performance

  5. Knowledge prompts

I'd like prompts to think more carefully about how well I know the different dimensions of a word or phrase (maybe in the testing bit) e.g. Can you pronounce this word? Can you spell this word? Do you know what it means? Do you know when to use it (formal/informal/written)? Etc. See Nation's book on learning vocabulary for ideas.

  6. Add images

I'd like to be able to add images to the words I collect and for these to be used to help promote/test recall in the flash cards

  7. How about the ability to print actual index cards?

This would be very nice. User could check what words they want to have index cards printed.

Ideally, the printed paper would have the word on one side with the corresponding meaning in the proper location on the other side. Then users with ability to print "2 sides" to "2 sides" could make their own index cards.

This feature alone would be great.

  8. How about reverse word quizes?

I am learning Deutsch. How about an option where I see the English word and ask what the Deutsch word is?

  9. There is little control over what is quizzed.

If you could allow the user to check words that they want to be quizzed on, that would be a great help.

If you showed a multiple choice of 5 words on the left and 5 meanings on the right, then have user match correctly, that would be nice.

  10. Can you add symbols ä, ü, ß, Ö...somewhere

I was thinking a little table called "Symbols", such as in Word and Excel.

  11. I want to be able to type my translations when testing my memory

It feels to me that I need to actually write the word translation every time I recall its meaning, instead of just rating how easy or difficult it was. This would make it more probable that the word sticks in my mind for longer.

  12. have browser addon for contextualized word search

I'd like to have an integration of Lexicum with the browser. This way when I read an article and encounter a word I don't know, I can right-click it and add it to my wordbook from the context menu. This is something similar to what Buffer offers:
    http://screencast.com/t/m766rgNoM
This saves me keeping Lexicum open in a browser tab and copying the word to the clipboard to paste it in the Lexicum tab.

  13. get corrected when I misspell a word

When I look for a word that the dictionary cannot find, possibly it could make corrective suggestions.
